The initial image was created from a live performance by the True Foxes, singer song writer duo from Cornwall, at Temperance Bar, Royal Leamington Spa. The song then also became an inspiration for a poem, created by Flora Chaplin; a well known local poet, now residing in Leamington Spa.

I then revisited the initial drawing and by combining the sensory and emotional response from both the song and the poem, I worked further into this very expressionistic, responsive art work.

The combination of poetry and music has enabled me to visually create a piece of work that celebrates both source reference points. I hope to communicate the powerful message that they both create beautifully and hauntingly: we do not regret our past, nor wish to close the door on it, but we grow and learn from our actions and choices to build a better now.
