About the Artist
Alan A Art creates his work from the sensory and emotional responses he experiences from music and day to day life. He uses a unique style, combining many sources of inspiration through an energetic and exciting application.
When studying Fine Art to a degree level, Alan gained influence from his favourite famous artists: Picasso’s bold colours and strong lines, Paul Klee’s composition and emotional impact, and Keith Haring’s accessible, communicative style of art. Raw, creative expression is very important to Alan, who has also drawn his focus to street art, children’s drawings, and outsider art. He says he admires surrealist automaton drawing, where the artist is letting their subconscious mind express its response to an environment, situation, or emotion. This is shown in Alan's work as he can be seen with a sketchpad with him everywhere he goes, drawing shapes and marking colours which lead to an artwork conveying the experience of that moment.
After living in Coventry from birth, Alan then moved to Leamington Spa in 2020. Here, he has created the home he always wanted, weaving himself into the town’s historic and diverse fabric. Within the past four years, Alan has had several solo and joint exhibitions, been the artist in residence at Earlsdon Carnegie Community Library, created a book cover for The Global History of Leamington, by the Leamington History Society, and has art used on several album covers seen on CDs and streaming platforms. Alan is best known for his creative work inspired by live performances of local and national musicians within the folk and blues communities.
Alan’s primary purpose is to encourage others to embrace their own creative sides. He hopes that his work inspires others to discover their artistic talents, whether that be visual, musical, writing, or whatever form it may take. Alan sees art as not only a way to communicate, but as a way of life.
